With a million things running through your mind, a spa trip before your wedding might not seem like a priority – but it’s a growing trend that’s quickly gaining traction. Solace Day Spa, located in the Rendezvous Hotel overlooking the beautiful Scarborough Beach, is the perfect, picturesque destination for relaxation and well-being. Owned by Matthew Finnigan & Ryan Maloney, the spa is led by Tahlia Morphew and a team of highly qualified therapists that specialise in massages, innovative facials and bespoke spa packages. “We have a fabulous couples’ suite, featuring a lounge, steam room, and rain shower – the perfect space to relax, reconnect and rejuvenate before the big day,” says Morphew. Whether it’s easing wedding planning stress or prepping for a radiant glow, Solace’s tailored packages ensure that both the bride and groom look and feel their best, setting the tone for a calm, blissful celebration ahead.
Indulge And Unwind
Whether you’re a first-time spa-goer or a seasoned professional, it can often be overwhelming to decide where to begin and which treatment to indulge in. With an array of options ranging from massages to facials, it’s important to prioritise the areas you’d like relief from and how you want to look and feel on your special day.
It’s safe to admit that many people feel guilty about taking time for themselves, but Morphew is committed to rewriting this narrative. She believes that everyone deserves time to focus on themselves, whether it’s for their wedding day or just a regular Tuesday. Taking time for self-care helps reduce anxiety and stress, allowing you to feel more relaxed and centrered. “I think spa treatments and prioritising yourself are a must. Massage alone offers tension relief, relaxation and improved sleep, not to mention peaceful time together away from the chaos that wedding prep can bring! Facials are a clear choice for getting a pre-wedding glow too,” Morphew explains.
For couples looking to unwind together before their vows, Solace Day Spa has a special selection of services, including the Slice of Solace package. This includes an aromatic footbath, Himalayan body exfoliation, time in the rain shower and steam room, a full-body massage and a bottle of sparkling with delicious refreshments. For brides aiming for glowing skin, facials and LED light therapy are the most popular treatments. “LED light therapy, 2-3 treatments a week for only a few weeks make a difference,” she highlights. Other beauty treatments like spray tans and mani/pedis complete the perfect pre-wedding pampering experience.
Connection And Celebration
While a spa day is often seen as the perfect treat for the girls, it also offers a great opportunity for the grooms to look and feel their best. Many grooms may be pleasantly surprised at how rejuvenating and relaxing a spa experience can be.
For those seeking a five-star treatment, Morphew advises, “nothing beats a good steam room session, followed by a full-body massage. Our men’s waxing services and Radiance package are great for pre-wedding as well.” It’s important to allow enough time to book your spa treatment, as it provides a much-needed escape from the stresses of wedding planning. When it comes to facials, Morphew recommends 4-6 treatments spaced a month apart for optimal results. Adding LED light therapy will further enhance the glow, with 12 sessions spread over a month being ideal.
Spa days can also be a fun experience for family, friends and bridal parties, providing an opportunity for bonding and relaxation. Solace Day Spa offers group spa packages tailored to group sizes and needs, accommodating up to seven guests at a time. The spa features a balcony for post treatment refreshments and socialisation, along with a bathhouse that includes a sauna, ice bath and magnesium tub. A spa day is always relaxing, “but being able to spend time together before and after treatment in our lounge space is perfect for bonding, as is a bathhouse session together,” Morphew adds.
Glow Up Before The ‘I Do’
As your wedding day draws closer, it can be difficult to prioritse wellness amidst the whirlwind of planning. However, making time for self-care is essential if you want to see positive results. Morphew, offers some helpful advice to get you started: “I would say include massages and a visit to our bathhouse, but most importantly, nourish your body and prioritise sleep.” Morphew’s top three tips for wellness during wedding prep include booking a spa treatment, taking regular breaks to prevent burnout (no wedding talk!) and be mindful, finding calm in the chaos. If you’re unsure where to begin on your wellness journey, she suggests starting with a package deal that includes a variety of treatments. “One of our packages includes a Vichy shower treatment. Hydrotherapy is a unique experience and can improve circulation, skin health, immunity, lymphatic drainage and detoxification. Clients can add on body mud or exfoliation treatments to enhance the results.”
